Smile

Femtosecond Zeiss

Femtosecond Zeiss as the latest generation of femtosecond devices has been able to offer both the typical functions of common femtoseconds and a special feature called SMILE. This method is actually the latest generation of vision correction surgery. In typical methods, by scraping the corneal surface, the required form and shape is given to the cornea.

SMILE operation

One of the most advanced and recent operations for correcting refractive defects of the eyes is called “SMILE”. The abbreviated form of this operation has been adapted from its full name, and it has been extracted such that ‘smile’ which means smiling would be obtained and create a good feeling in both the patient and physician. It is actually a suitable name because this operation is a result of a new and advanced technology. In this operation, only femtosecond laser is used. Part of the corneal tissue is incised as negative or positive lens (whether the patient has myopia or hyperopia). Then, this tissue is removed from a small incision which is around 3 mm , and therefore the cornea finds a new shape and strength, whereby the refractive defect of the person is corrected.

This method is similar to Femtolasik, with the difference that there is no flap in the cornea, and eximer laser is not used either. It is also devoid of the complications of corneal flap. Furthermore, the strength of cornea is less compromised in comparison to Lasik. In terms of safety, this operation is as safe as PRK, but the recovery is faster in comparison to PRK.

Although SMILE has some advantages over other operations, its latest version of vision is similar to other techniques and has no superiority in this regard.

Parsian subspecialty ophthalmology clinic succeeded in achieving this technique for some time, and it is hoped that this technology would be provided to dear citizens and compatriots by removing the obstacles as soon as possible.
